In: Empúries 1Abstract: This paper gives a progress report on the terminology problems encountered in describing sewn boats, and more precisely aboutthe assemblies by ligatures, in the Ancient Mediterranean shipbuilding in the Latin languages (French,Spanish, Italian) as well in English language. After having explained the reasons of these problems, this paper tries to show the realities that cover the different terms employed in the various languages and their equivalence.
